Crate Cleaner started the way most DJ tools should: with a library that had gotten completely out of hand. Years of downloads, the same track in three formats, files turning red after a drive swap, and crates nested so deep that finding the right record mid-set meant scrolling instead of mixing.
The tools that existed either wanted to replace Serato, ignore it, or "clean" a library by deleting things forever. None of them treated the library like what it actually is for a working DJ: years of curation, cue points, and muscle memory that you cannot get back if a tool gets it wrong.
So Crate Cleaner was built to do one job with respect for that: read a Serato DJ Pro library the way Serato does, fix what's broken, and never destroy anything.
What we believe
Four principles behind every feature
Never destroy
Duplicates are archived, not deleted. Snapshots let you roll back. There is no feature in the app that permanently deletes your music for you.
Local first
Your library never leaves your Mac. Scanning, deduping, repair and analysis all run offline. No account, no upload, no cloud.
Serato-safe
Scans are read-only, writes only happen while Serato is closed, and cues, beatgrids and crate memberships are preserved through every operation.
Built for the gig
Every feature exists to answer one question: can you walk into tonight's set trusting every track in your crate? If it doesn't serve that, it's not in the app.
Who's behind it
Independent, and deliberately so
Crate Cleaner is made by Crate Cleaner LLC, an independent software company. No investors, no growth team, no roadmap decided by a boardroom. It's built close to the problem, shaped by feedback from the working DJs who use it, and funded by the people it's for: you.
That independence is why the app works offline, why there's a lifetime licence, and why "archive, never delete" is a principle and not a settings toggle.
Crate Cleaner is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Serato.
