Roundup · 2026

The best Serato library software, by the job you need done.

There is no single best Serato library tool, because DJs mean different jobs by “library management”: cleaning up a messy Serato library, moving it to another app, or preparing sets. Here are eight tools compared on what actually matters for Serato DJs, including Serato 4 support, safety, platform and price. Crate Cleaner is ours, so we have tried to be harder on it than on anyone else.

By job

The best tool for each job

Before you pick anything

Four things that matter more than the feature list

  • Serato 4 support. Serato 4 moved the library into a new database. Check that a tool says it supports your version, and see what is in the _Serato_ folder for what changed.
  • What “remove” means. Permanently deleted, sent to the Trash, or archived and restorable are three very different safety levels.
  • Backups before writes. A tool that changes your library should back it up first, and only write while Serato is closed.
  • How you pay. One-time licences, subscriptions and free betas all change over time. Every price here was checked in September 2026.
Cleaning and repairing a Serato library on a Mac

Crate Cleaner or MLT Pro

Crate Cleaner (ours) treats Serato as the whole job: a health score across missing files, corrupt files, duplicates and uncrated tracks, duplicates archived rather than deleted, confidence-scored relinking, a free and unlimited fake-320 scan, audio repair, harmonic Smart Crates and a pre-gig crate audit. Everything runs locally. The honest gaps: Mac only, no conversion to other DJ apps, and Serato 4 support is still in progress. MLT Pro is the other Serato specialist: a suite of separate apps for missing tracks, duplicates, crate matching, tags and backups, on Mac and Windows, for one payment, and it already supports Serato 4. It has no analysis, set building or audio checks. See Crate Cleaner vs MLT Pro for the detail.

Moving a library between DJ apps

Lexicon, DJCU2 or Music Library Doctor

Lexicon is the strongest choice if you switch between Serato, Rekordbox, Traktor and others, and it adds cleanup on top; duplicates need the Ultimate tier. DJCU2 is a one-time Mac utility that converts between six DJ apps, including Serato 3 and 4, and does nothing else. Music Library Doctor converts playlists between Rekordbox, Serato and VirtualDJ for free on Mac and Windows. Our Crate Cleaner vs Lexicon comparison covers where Lexicon fits better than we do.

Just getting rid of duplicates

CrateSweep, MLT or Crate Cleaner

CrateSweep is the simplest answer on Serato 4: a free scan and $19 once to remove, with files sent to the Trash and your library backed up first. MLT’s duplicate scan is free and matches by audio fingerprint, with replacing as the paid part. Crate Cleaner archives the extra copies instead of deleting them and moves their crate memberships to the copy you keep; 10 a day free, unlimited from $9 a month. How they differ from deleting by hand is in how to delete duplicate songs in Serato.

Catching fake 320s and fake FLACs

Crate Cleaner or Music Library Doctor

Crate Cleaner’s spectral check finds transcodes across your whole library for free, with no cap, and its audio repair fixes clipping and loudness on the tracks worth keeping. Music Library Doctor scores every track from 1 to 10 in its paid tier. Standalone checkers exist too, but they are not library tools; see Fakin’ The Funk vs Crate Cleaner. The method is explained in how to spot a fake 320kbps MP3.

Library in the cloud and on your phone

MIXO

MIXO syncs your library through your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive and has mobile apps for editing on the go, with export to most DJ apps and a duplicate finder on its $7 Gold plan. Its cleanup tools are lighter than the specialists’. See MIXO vs Lexicon for how it stacks up.

Spending nothing

Cadence or Serato’s built-in tools

Cadence is a native Mac library checker that is free while it is in beta, with health scans, duplicates, metadata repair and automatic backups, working on copies rather than your original files. It does not say whether it supports Serato 4. Serato itself gives you Relocate Lost Files and Rescan ID3 Tags, which are enough for a small, tidy library.

Preparing sets rather than fixing the library

Vibes or Crate Cleaner Smart Crates

Vibes ($49 for the first 250 licences, then $79, on Mac and Windows) tags tracks by mood and helps you design sets on a canvas, exporting to four DJ apps. It does not repair libraries. Crate Cleaner’s Smart Crates build Serato crates by key and energy from rules.

FAQ

Questions about Serato library software

What is the best Serato library management software?
It depends on the job. For cleaning and repairing a Serato library on a Mac, Crate Cleaner or MLT Pro. For moving a library between DJ apps, Lexicon. For a one-off duplicate cleanup on Serato 4, CrateSweep. Crate Cleaner is our own tool, so weigh that recommendation accordingly and run the free scans side by side.
Is there free Serato library software?
Yes, with limits. Serato's own Relocate Lost Files and Rescan ID3 Tags are free. Cadence is free while it is in beta. MLT's duplicate scan, Music Library Doctor's converter, CrateSweep's scan and Crate Cleaner's free plan all run on your real library at no cost; fixing at scale is what the paid tiers unlock.
Which Serato library tools support Serato 4?
Lexicon (since version 1.10), MLT Pro (since MLT 2.0), DJCU2 and CrateSweep say so. Crate Cleaner's Serato 4 support is in progress, targeted for October to November 2026. Music Library Doctor, Cadence and MIXO do not state which Serato versions they support.
Which tools work on Windows?
Lexicon, MLT Pro, Music Library Doctor, MIXO, Vibes and Kombiner. Crate Cleaner, Cadence, CrateSweep and DJCU2 are Mac only.
What should I check before letting any tool change my Serato library?
What happens to removed files (deleted, sent to the Trash, or archived and restorable), whether it backs up your library before writing, and whether it writes while Serato is closed. Whatever you choose, back up your _Serato_ folder and Serato's Library folder first.
