Roadmap

What we're building next, and roughly when.

Crate Cleaner is built by a small independent team, so this roadmap is honest about pace. Dates are targets, not promises: if something slips, this page changes, not the story. Everything here keeps the same rules as the rest of the app: local on your Mac, no account, and nothing deleted for good.

Serato 4 and 5, fully supported

Target: October to November 2026

Serato 4 moved its library into a new database, and Serato 5 is in public beta. Keeping up with Serato comes before anything else on this page.

Serato 4 library support

Read your crates, ratings and play history straight from Serato 4's new library. Analytics will pick up every set automatically, with no History Export step.

Why: Serato 4 stopped writing the older library files Crate Cleaner reads today. Until this ships, export your history from Serato to keep Analytics current.

Serato 5 ready

Make sure Auto Cue, Library Repair and tag writing leave Serato 5's new flexible beatgrids and Cue Loops exactly as Serato made them.

Why: Serato 5 maps tempo changes across a whole track. A tool that assumes one fixed BPM must not flatten that work.

Next

New music, checked before it hits your crates

Target: November 2026 to January 2027

New Music Inbox

Point Crate Cleaner at your downloads or record pool folder. Each new file is checked for tracks you already own, fake lossless or low bitrate audio, and missing tags, then dropped into a crate you choose.

Why: Most library mess arrives with the weekly download. Catching it at the door beats cleaning it up later.

Streaming-aware Pre-Gig Check

Serato now lets streaming and local tracks share a crate. Pre-Gig Check will flag every track in tonight's crates that needs an internet connection, so you can swap in a local file before you leave.

Why: Venue wifi is not a backup plan.

Windows public beta

Crate Cleaner for Serato DJ Pro on Windows 10 and 11. The app already builds for Windows; the beta is about testing real Windows libraries, drive letters and all.

Why: Plenty of Serato DJs play off a Windows laptop. Want in? Email us and we'll add you to the list.

Early 2027

Less prep, better sets

Target: January to March 2027

Tag Cleanup recipes

One-click fixes for messy tags: tidy genres into your own list, move "feat." artists into the artist field, strip record pool clutter like URLs and "(Clean)" from titles, fix capitalization. Preview first, undo after.

Mixable next track

Pick a track and see the best next moves from your own library, ranked by key, BPM and energy, and weighted by what you've actually played after it at real gigs.

Scheduled backups

Automatic, versioned backups of your Serato library to a folder you choose: an external drive, iCloud Drive or a Dropbox folder. Your data stays in places you control.

Export any crate

Send any crate, not just Smart Crates, to rekordbox XML or M3U8, carrying hot cues and beatgrids with it where the format allows.

Mid 2027 and beyond · your feedback decides the order

  • Cue templates. Your own layout (intro, first drop, breakdown, outro) applied to Auto Cue, with consistent colors.
  • Genre and vibe tagging, on your Mac. Automatic genre and mood suggestions without uploading your music anywhere.
  • Tempo drift detection. Flag live recordings and older tracks whose tempo wanders, before they catch you out mid-mix.
  • More playlist sources. Import from Tidal, Beatport and Apple Music, alongside Spotify and Import List.
  • Record pool version manager. Keep clean, dirty, intro and quick hitter versions grouped, and pick the right one for the room.

What we're not building

Saying no keeps the app focused. These are good ideas that other tools already do well, or that break our local-first promise.

  • Converting whole libraries between DJ apps. Dedicated converters do this well. We'll keep exports practical instead.
  • A cloud-hosted library or phone app. Your library stays on your Mac.
  • Stem separation. Serato already does it inside the software you play with.
  • Selling or downloading music. We work with the library you already have.
